Nintendo released Mario cart for the ISO ON September 25th and now it is time to see if it lives up to the expectations.
We have been playing it now for a couple hours and the game play itself is enjoyable. The overall interface is easy to navigate and learn, while the controls are simple yet sometimes glitchy.
The basic controls utilize a one finger system, which helps simplify game play, but the inability to control speed of the kart seems to take away some of the skill level for advanced or veteran kart players. The kart itself automatically accelerates, leaving you to the ability to guide back and forth movements, and use obtained objects. Think of it more as a beginners version of the game we are all use to on the console version.
The game play levels are a blast, and are beautifully made. The atmospheres throw you right back into the classic game, while giving it an updated feel. All of your classic characters are here, though to play with most you must purchase or win them. As games build up so do your kart options, giving you faster and more exciting game play. The screens themselves seem to move slower than expected, giving the racing a lag feel, even though it is moving senselessly.
Overall we would give this game a 8 out of 10, and most certainly one you want to try out. The navigation system leaves a little to be desired, and more control over how the kart drives would be fantastic. Let us know in the comments below what you thought of the game!
